Adult Books & Media on Diversity
Here are a couple of sites that have good lists for what to watch or read about Black Lives Matter to educate yourself or an important kid in your life. Some of the links are lists, while some of the links are articles with lists of good books, movies or podcasts in them:
https://www.cnet.com/news/black-lives-matter-movies-tv-shows-and-books-on-systemic-racism/
This gives summaries of each book or movie which is nice. The list is divided into:
* Adult nonfiction (White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo, it's so good)
* Fiction (Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston and Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison are two of my favorites)
* Children's books (Something Happened in Our Town: A Child's Story About Racial Injustice by Marianne Celano, Marietta Collins and Ann Hazzard, which was read in church on June 15th)
* TV shows and films (I watched 13th, a documentary on Netflix, and really enjoyed it, but I suggest watching it first before recommending it to a child. Selma is another favorite of mine).
This link has lots of repeats of the other article but some podcasts and social media accounts to follow as well.
