Emeritus Rev. Catherine M. (Cathy) Freeman
Caring Minister
Rev. Catherine M. (Cathy) Freeman is a retired ordained Deacon at Dixboro UMC, she continues to lead our Outreach Team Ministry . Her education includes a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, certification in United Methodist Studies from the Methodist Theological Seminary in Delaware, OH, certification in Spiritual Formation from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL and a Masters of Pastoral Ministry from the Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit.
Cathy serves as the Minister of Mission and Nurture at Dixboro where she lives out her calling to connect the church and the world by coordinating and serving with mission projects such as a monthly meal at the Delonis Homeless Shelter in downtown Ann Arbor. She also serves part-time in ministries out in the world where she is a Board member for the House by the Side of the Road, for the Interfaith Round Table of Washtenaw County, and for the Ann Arbor Women’s Group.
Cathy has been married for over 40 years to her husband Tom, a life-long Dixboro resident. Their daughter Anna lives in Chicago with her husband Paul and their grandchildren Sophie and Aaron.
When asked to articulate her passion for ministry, Cathy says: “All people are hungry for God, seeking meaning and fulfillment in their lives, whether they understand this need or not. It is my joy to create opportunities for people to see God working in their lives and to connect with God’s love and grace.”
Life Verse: There are different spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; and there are different ministries and the same Lord; and there are different activities but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. I Cor 12:4-6
